Web UI Design made Easy
Guidelines for UI design
Building anything that a human interacts with requires some creative skill. We’ve all seen those UIs designed by engineers and they are TERRIBLE. Who would build such a thing? Old me, that’s who.
In 2021, I created an app for my wife. To build this app as fast as possible, I used a React template that came with a set of design opinions, which I wasn’t mad keen on, but I needed the components and the look and feel could wait, until it couldn’t. The user interface design aspects were the hardest in my opinion, not so much the functionality.
Logology
I did some Googling round and after reading about them on Twitter, decided to use Logology, which is a self-service site that asks you a bunch of fun questions and gives you logo options, including some pre-selected colour schemes and fonts 🤯. Mind utterly blown.
After a short live chat, Logology offered for a reasonable fee to build me a design guide to help with the UI. I received a document with solid guidelines, advice and an awesome logo. Even better, in my false confidence, I removed some whitespace between the logo and text then after showing it to the Logology team, received advice to put the whitespace back and let it breathe. It’s great having a confident team of people behind you to bolster weak areas.
I had a fantastic experience and if you need a great logo, design guide help or customisation of anything for your website, company graphics or app, hit up Logology and say built.fm sent you!
Catch you next time,
Dave
